Nice Paper Toys

The Papertoy Network!

Here is a dancing cow I made at work last week as a gift/teaser for an upcoming presentation for a client. By far the most complex thing I've ever designed with just paper. I hope to have time to do a personal piece of paper automata with my own illustration style and characters sometime soon, but this was very time consuming.

Woof! This is pretty advanced stuff compared to what we usually see around here! I'd imagine re-skinning this little doodad will be pretty fun--Now that you've got the dancing mechanism of the toy down, I can imagine some other characters I'd like to see doing the Funky Chicken. I think the record player may be a good theme to bring together a series...

By the way anyone know how to get a pic from the video in the thumbnail on the front page instead of a the default camera thing?

Thanks everybody!
DMC: From the beginning I had in mind the basic motion but there where definitely a few "happy accidents" along the way (as well as a few unhappy ones;) I've built a lot of Rob Ives' toys as well as Saka Karakuri's automata.
mck: I really really want to release my own soon. Since this one was done on the clock (at work) I can't release it, but now that I know I can do it, I must get to one soon. Just a matter of finding the time to do it.
