New Tephlon Industries Presents: TephMech - Delta 7 Squadron

(Pic by Methuup da Funky One)

UPDATE: Version 2.1 (Fixed the shin and removed an extra flap from the gun. Thanks Morten!)

About a week ago I was sketching and came up with a walking tank (Or "Mech").

2 days later I had it sketched out in sketchup and on paper. 2 days after that the first version was standing on my dresser. :-)

No photo's (yet).

After some tweaks and extra graphics here's the PDF if you want to build one:

Edit: UPDATE. Version 2.0

Photo's are welcome. :-)

It's my first 2 page papertoy.

I've made a few more TephMechs during the last couple of days (size comparison to a lighter). I also tried to make the beefed up TephMech (on the far right).

heh. Looks like my first sketch... :-)

Thanks. :-)

I must admit I was a bit freaked out when I saw the TephMech. Here's my sketch for a simpler mech version I was planning on:

I figured there was no need to persue that particular design then, ha, ha. ;-)

Very nice! I can see that it would be a bit to intricate to build several of those... Nice detail!

Sure you can. :)

Btw. A very easy way to beef up the TephMech would be too print out a extra set of both "arms". Then attach the long gun to the box on either side.

I've done a bit of papermech building too in the past, but my models were too time consuming to build in large numbers, so it was never a big hit. the Tephmech is easy and fast to build. A big plus.

When the game is done could I have a look? It's been a while since I've done any miniature gaming. :-)

Here's the first two I've made. I've added a number on top of the mechs as I intend to use them for a homemade game I'm designing (free-ware naturally).

I call the mechs Mobile Assault Robotic System (M.A.R.S.) in the game.

I would really like to see some flame, ballistic and energy weapons for the TephMech. :)

And I agree on the shin flaps. The would be too small (I'm building my TephMechs at 50% pdf size btw.) and the foot holds the shin in place anyway.

Keep up the good work...

Hi Morten, Thanks for the feedback. The shin colour is a mistake, but there's no way to do flaps to attach it without them being TINY. So I left them off. As for the extra flap on the gun: D'oh!

I'll fix both in the 2.1 version.

Do you have pictures of your TephMechs?

And the weapons are a great idea.

I just made a few of your very nice robot design. Very nice work on the details printed on them.

There seems to be a few flaws on the colour printed pdf one. The shin on the leg has no colour and there's a flap to much on the gun that needs to be removed. Also the shin has no flaps to attack it to the legs.

Are you going to make more weapon/arm attachments? It would be nice for variation. Good work though. :)
