Nice Paper Toys

The Papertoy Network!

After a little bit of pushing from Brian Castleforte, I thought I'd post a 'hello' and introduce myself and my first paper toy, Bertie. I'm a 35 year old artist/designer/thingymajigger from the UK, very interested in trying new avenues and seeing where they take me. Most of my work can be viewed at my deviantArt page. I'm working on getting a web site together for my "proper" site (moopf.com) but it's slow going :)

I joined nicepapertoys.com a week or so ago, after seeing it mentioned on Matthijs Kamstra's site, whilst I was starting to think about a design for my first paper toy. Anyway, that led to Bertie, which is a fairly simple first effort but hopefully with enough going on for other artists to want to customise it.

I've started the ball rolling with Bertie 'Rainy Day', and the template for it can be downloaded from the following here (@ deviantArt)

I've also made available the blank template for Bertie, in Photoshop, Illustrator and PDF formats which can be obtained here (@ deviantArt)

I've released it under Creative Commons, as that seemed the most sensible license to use (full details on the link above and in a text file included in the template zip file).

Anyway, hello to you all, and I'll try to participate here as much as I can. I'll certainly be doing some more paper toys and hopefully customizing other people's as well if the change arises.

Oh that's it, I don't work with illustrator (yet). I'm really old skool I do it all by hand. all I need is an ordinary pdf.

There are two main layers in each, Page 1 and Page 2, to get the two pages (in Illustrator). What version of Illustrator do you have?

Looks good, but I downloaded the file for the blank Bertie and opened the pdf & ai. I only get one page (the body).
