I was playing around in Sketchup to see if I could make a simple Papertoy to run through Piperka.
What I came up with is this:

Which might be a bit too reminiscent to Mark James's Cardboy, but I liked it. (The head leans forward a bit, and of course the body is different, but it's still a small body with a giant square head... :-) )
Something I
don't like though is Piperka. The arms (Which are mirror copies...)…

Is there a simple way to wrap graphics around a 3D model without having to build it yourself? This is useful for toys with many customs that you're designing yourself... So you don't have to build the same toy about a hundred times!!
Man, am I lazy or what? Shoot me down if I am.

I just released my first papertoy called BC Butler. It's a display for business cards. You can download the model from my blog. Feedback is of course welcome. I'll upload an empty template for customization tomorrow.

A basic sketch of a POSSIBLE upcoming paper model. the basic idea to him is that his head can easily be attached/removed or revolve/move so that one side of the face shows one emotion/face and when you spin the head around, it will show the OTHER emotion/face. I have a poll up on m,y site and more details about him on my site too. Email me about it if you wish to find out more and either comment on my page, the forum topic or on the blog…

The Shelfbuddies have zoomed off to a great start and I already have more artists making customs for the little guys than I had ever expected to get! I have somthing like 8-10 artists designing already which means I think i might even reach the twenty models mark. Which is absolutely SUPER. I thank all you are contributing to the project and i hope your having fun while your doing it! I sure am! Just did this up in illustator to get the measurements and lines straight. I'm off by 0.3 cm on one of the parts and had a weird extra crease mark on the chin piece. Both are easy fixes.
I can't seem to get a good photo...

Still need to do some tweaking. Some feedback would be…

Here's the first prototype of my papertoy. No idea what to call it so it's just going by 'Arms' right now. It's a bit wonky looking at the moment just because all the measurements were done by hand and it's held together by tape.
Silly me didn't put any tabs on it.

I'll make the top part wider in the next version.
So, any thoughts?…

Yo and hey there!
I'm Tawa, one of the laziest gamers and artists out there. I don't really know what else to say about myself but if you got any questions feel free to ask.
I've decided, after checking out all the neat papertoy models on this network and on the web, that I'll give it a shot in making my own papertoy. I personally have no idea how this will go but it'll give me something fun and crafty to do.

Hi everyone, just thought i'd introduce myself.
I'm 21, studying the final year of an illustration degree in the wildernesses of wales and interested in a bit of everything really. I doodle a lot but also make models such as these... usually with the intention of working them into animation later on.
A lot of my work can be found on my
Deviant Art site but not all of the nets are... I will send to peeps if they are nice :p A website…
