likewise - I was looking at making a rapid prototype of my models first (using CAD/CAM malarky at uni with the engineering department)... but I never got around to a final model as the software they used was ugly as sin. Was then going to cast it using some of the techniques off of instructables. If i pull anything off i'll doc it and let you know.

Makes me think of a vinyl toy of stacking squids (turns out their ghosts - Totem Doppelganger by Anton Ginzburg) - but they don't fit into each other. I know what you mean about stacking - the tree I made out of card to display my paper toys stacked because i had to take it down to London for a show.
And you get to hide things too ^^
