It would be awesome to meet Shin and i could so use a little vacation. But also I decided to participate to support Shin and the papertoy scene in general. It's cool to see a company like Scion doing a papertoy promotion and I would love to see more projects like this for the sake of the creators who could benefit from it and it's cool to see papertoys getting major national exposure. I hope it's a success and more things like this come up in the future.
I just saw that they have extended the deadline for 2 more weeks, they were supposed to announce the winner today. Must be trying to get more entrys into the contest.

Thanks guys.
Far as the brick choice, I was really looking for something more earthy or natural texture to offset the cold crisp vector art. Something to warm it up and add another visual layer. I keep a folder on my computer of textures and patterns and I was just shuffling thru that and trying different rock and sand texture. When I came across the bricks I thought it was a great combo of industrial texture and natural warmth. I then also thought it was a great fit for a more "urban/street" feel of Shin's work. Although I really like and respect Urban toys and street art, I've never really felt my work is all that street or urban (I grew up in rural Kansas for crying out loud) It has influenced my style for sure but if I tried to be all hard and street it feels insincere to me. So this was fun cuz I took how I'd approuch it and tried to combine that with a little more Urban feel of Shin's work. So that is probably more than you wanted to know;)

Great design! It is more great design from a dependable crafter! I am curious about the brick choice of texture--was it an aesthetic choice or more 'street'?
