In fact, it is much better if the head is open at the top. Then you have a man with a plan, and an open mind ! I design most of my models on squared, light cardboard paper. Then I make a photocopy of it, and construct the model directly from the squared cardboard. If I ever want to duplicate the model, I redraw the pattern from the photocopy using a light box.
