Board Game Step Indicator Ideas? (Spinners, dice, etc.)

Hi Everyone,

I'm working on a paper toy and a board game for my wedding. The board game is giving me some trouble, because I'm not sure how to indicate how many steps a player should move on their turn. In typical games, you toss dice or spin a spinner.

Have any ideas on how to tell players how many steps along the board game path they should take? Paper dice are not the best, and spinners are kind of flimsy.

The only thing I've thought of is colored discs the player tosses like dice. A player would move forward based on how many discs land color side up. The discs wouldn't take up much of the printed paper space either.

Guessing you have better ideas! Really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks,
Katya

I made a pyramid dice for my card/board game Hop Hop Hermit Crab at

Each point of the pyramid dice has the same number on all sides. Whichever point is up is the player's move... The pyramid dice is a lot more sturdy than a paper cube... but it's still a dice. Old cereal box games ask you to use 2 pennies, with heads=1 tails=2, just add up your toss.

Congrats on your wedding! Married since 1996 here! So much of our youth is spent looking for "the one", and when you find that person, you can really focus on your art, creativity, and life gets so much more focused. Get it on!

cards work well and they can either be numbered or colored ( think candy land) other then that you can use pre determined movement by character but that mean you have to have a character card that would have pre printed modifiers on them.

I suggest you use cards... Each card says how many spaces a player moves. The player has to pick a card randomly. The cards can also have game-related information intrinsic to the game.

        Hope this helps.

        Congratulations to you!
