I've been seeing a lot of things in .png format lately. After reading up, I learned that png is apparently much less lossy than jpg or gif format. Does that cross over to printing? Since my printer died on me, I've been taking any templates I want to do down to the print shop. The downside is the price, but the upside is a better quality than my printer could muster in it's prime. However, I've only been printing pdfs, since I know they scale without loss. No one uses A4 paper in Canada (at least, they don't in my province of BC) so everything is printed to letter. With most templates out there coming in A4, I haven't wanted to test out other formats for print quality (misprints get expensive). Basically, my question is whether or not png's purported losslessness carries over to a scaled print.
I might just bite the bullet and try it out, but thought I'd throw the question up here first. As an aside, is anyone else here from a country where A4 is not the standard?
