Give it a name!

Hi Folks,

I have a question for you:

What is the "official" term of the plain picture "the blueprint" in 2D which you have before you cut out and fold the Papertoy?

Are you calling this thing blueprint?

Would it be better to find a special name for it? It seems to me that nothing really exists here...help me i might be wrong!

share your ideas, maybe we invent a new word for that, which everyone uses and which than appears on wikipedia :)

my ideas so far:

flatline, flatsketch, plainfig., 2Dplain, the plain

what do you think? can we make a standard here, something everyone uses as a generl term?

now, you. Go for it.

Slurg.

I've always called them a 'Net'. :) It's what we call them here at work too.

I believe most of us call it template. I doubt that there is any official term for it. Or is there?

Some of the biggest papertoy designers are Dutch (Sjors Trimbach, 3EyedBear, Matthijs[MCK]Kamstra, Marshall Alexander, Ringo.) so "Bouwplaat" seems appropriate. =)
