Google Sketchup unfold plugin

A little update: via a comment I made at Jeroms blog I noticed that someone is using this post to "sell" Waybe. I don't mind, but this means that I have to change a few things in this post.

This piece of software is not freeware: Test it for 15 days, buy it for 49.95 USD

On my post on How to create you own papercraft I got a comment today that is interesting. So I decided to share this with y'all... Waybe: Design. Unfold. Print. Waybe is the fastest and easiest way to design and print 3-D paper models. Here a little promotional video from youtube: Its a new (still in beta) plugin for Google Sketchup to unfold the 3d designs you make in it. But remember this
  • I'm not sure if it's going to be freeware (it doesn't say if it will be in the future)
  • I'm not a promoter for the site (I'm not paid to promote this)
  • I haven't tested it yet (signed up for that)Not tested it.
  • Don't know if it's any good (beta software can crash a lot)Can't say: didn't test it
  • Don't know if they can be trusted!:)
  • Try it at your own risk (beta software can be unpredictable)
But I signed up for testing: they are looking for Beta testers: http://waybe.weebly.com/participate.html It could be fun! One of there tutorials:

Alright, little update on the plugin. I never replied to their strange eMail asking for the phone number, never heard back of them after that either. I realized today they did give people access to the beta version to test it. While some parts of their project looks quite professional, i still am the opinion they haven't dealt with this kind of beta tests before, as the documentation is rather bad, etc.

But well, back to the plugin: After i saw it's being released i looked around a bit...
Check Google to find the download page for the beta plugin. You can install it just normal, but the installer is NOT intelligent enough to find teh plugin folder if your system is not standard english - so make sure you browse to the correct folder if needed.
After the install when you start SketchUp, there is a pop-up asking for username and beta key or something. I just hit ok without entering anything. the plugin behaved a bit shaky, i just restarted SketchUp again and now it looks like i can use the beta plugin just fine. I did not toy around with it for more then a few minutes so far, but figured i should share this. Try for yourself and share what you find out.

Thanks for sharing that looks interesting. So far I've designed all my stuff without the assistance of any 3D programs but I'd like to give it a shot. I signed up for the beta.
