Dali Universe and Squat series one

Hi peeps, I realise I've not updated for about half a year so expect a couple of meaty posts. First off, massive congrats for everyone involved in the urban paper book. I was seriously considering flying all the way over the pond to get there for the launch show but I'm far too busy rockin' the poor penniless artist vibe (ie skint).

I had my first big commission in the form of designing a paper toy for the gift shop of the Dali Universe based on one of the moustachio'd fella's pieces of work. I chose a brass sculpture called "The Snail and the Angel" and played around with what I could adapt this into. Bosh ping! this was the result. My main concern with the build was making it easy to assemble for children - It's in 8 parts that have been 11 yr old tested so I'm fairly confident it'll build ok. Unfortunately there was a minor snag with the funding which means this has turned into a bit of a labour of love, but with it being close to print I hope it pays off...

I also been putting out my first self published paper toy packs for the great unwashed masses to consume. The 4 models come as 4 a5 sheets in a brown envelope with a sticker on it and have been retailing at six quid a pop at a weird lil store in Preston called Rubidoo. I've not sold many yet but it kinda felt refreshing to have a finished "product" in my hands to wave at people who are interested. more to follow...
