Interactivity

Just a little something I've been playing around with. I had an interview on friday for a multimedia designer post that required me to give a talk in interactivity within my work... and I couldnt leave out the paper toys now could I? I've been experimenting with adding QR codes to my models - these are 2 dimensional barcodes v similar to datamatrixes which you find on mail sometimes, in order to give them a digital component. With a small app for a camera phone you can use these to link to additional web content. The one on the base of stanley's foot for example takes you to a wap minisite detailing info about stanley.... so it's a pokedex. There's only some rudimentary graphics and text up there but it was a working proto to show what can be done with this. I'll be updating Stanley and a couple of his friends' nets to include QR codes so watch this space. For an ok QR code viewer (i think it does datamatrix as well), point your phone to www.i-nigma.mobi . There are also several QR code generators out there so you can have a go making your own interactive content (crack out the google). This technology has been big in japan for a while now but i've not seen anyone add it to paper models at all. I was kicking myself for ages when i spotted the link. Go Play Tang Mu
