Nice Paper Toys

The Papertoy Network!

Official title of these paper toys? for my dissertation please help.

I am writing my university dissertation about paper toys 'An exploration of the evolution of paper toys and how the connectivity of the internet, the reinvention of craft and the ethos of free culture has enabled new communities of paper toy designers.' (needs work, but something like that). As I have been writing it, I keep refering to all the recent paper toys like the ones on this site, as 'Urban Paper Toys' and have no idea if this is actually the correct term for them. As designers of the toys, how do you refer to them?
Any help would be really appreciated, thank you.

Well papertoys come in mayn catogories there are the simple toys that take about half an hour tor so to make these are papertoys, but the more complec toys that can thake weeks to make are paper crafts.

Urban papertoys is a topic people are always talking about what is an irban toy? In my opinion these are to toys that people customize (change the skin of ) many times e.g shin tanaka changes the skin of t-boy

Moving papertoys are known as automata aswell

good luck with this i did a simalar thing for my final art GCSE and got a B all thanks to papertoys :)
Well I believe [mck] had a definition of what makes an urban paper toy an urban paper toy, might wanna check out his site for it.

As a collector or builder I call them, well toys, or models. :)
yes I did write a definition of urban papercraft:

I wrote it in 2007, when there was no NPT or a lot of designers (if I remember it correctly: Shin Tanaka and Sjors Trimbach where the 2 designers that did what I wanted to do).
At that time there was only papercraft (NOT papertoy) and because the Urban Vinyl scene was the very similar to what I wanted to do, I called it "Urban Papercraft".
I have never liked "papertoys" which implied that it's toys... and toys are for kids. And I don't see what I do for kids only.

If I would rewrite I would have chosen for "Urban Paper"
Oops sorry man, its been awhile since I read it :(
nononono, that's not what I ment.. I'm sorry that you thought you needed to reply to my comment.

I don't mind that everyone calling it "papertoys", it's just how stuff went..
But if I had a choice, I would not have called it Papertoys, I would not have called it Urban Papercraft (as I did in the blog post I made...) but I would call it "Urban Paper"

Perhaps I will suggest it to my publisher :)
