Nice Paper Toys

The Papertoy Network!

Hey artists,

I know most of you work with paper, but vinyl is a really close cousin of what we're doing.

Does anyone know how to go about casting and producing 200-300 copies of a vinyl toy?

If someone could point me the right way...

Maybe check out the link list they have...
Thanks for your help:) Ill check around more.
theres a uk magazine called computer arts, they did a toy special a few months back.
they gave away a free toy on the cover by "tado"
It also had an article on how tado went about producing it.

don't know if this would be any use to you,
if you think it may be, i'll scan it in for you.
but don't tell anyone ;)

Vinyl is tough because it is expensive and the plastic is spun to get the hollow effect. Also the fumes in production can cause cancer. I have talked with a few companies. They all say the best thing is to know how to sculpt. Also if you are not a super well known artist they will not produce your toy. The best thing is to do it yourself, They recommened going in with a few people to get enough money to have it made. I have worked in the toy industry off and on for 10 years. You pretty much have to do it yourself.
Ah..

Thanks Macula :) I will bear your words in mind.

Yes, indeed capital is important. May I ask, how much am I looking at for a batch of 200 toys approx 12 cm tall?
