Nice Paper Toys

The paper toy network

Marshall Alexander

It's Urban Papertoy Week and here's my box of surprises:

surprise 1: Here's another one-piece papertoy by yours truly, this time paying tribute to our close relatives. You can download him as usual on my website. He's a pain to build and it took me three times myself before I got him glued together satisfactory. I guess it needs a hardcore warning :)

surprise 2: Also available for download now is the PDF of my model for the Urban Paper book, Paperboy. But remember to buy the book as well. We all want a sequel to it!

surprise 3: And in a couple of days you will also be able to download my Peace Of Paper model that is currently on display at Pink Hobo Gallery in Minneapolis.

surprise 4: My 3 year old daughter did some customizing of my APE models and the result looks awesome. Here it is:

surprise 5: I am your father.... just kidding ;)

Anyways, the last period I've seen an enormous growth in the amount and quality of papertoys. I find it hard to keep up with it, it's overwhelming and inspiring at the same time. It challenges me to compete for a place at the forefront of papertoy design and in the coming period I will definitely try to push my boundaries more. Gotta stay fresh.

In the meantime, enjoy APE and enjoy papertoys,

Marshall

Yeah, get out the markers, crayons and felt-tips for that "my daughter can do that feel".
I betcha you could sell them as Cobra.

@damien: yep, definitely showing off :) If you look at the model it's probably way easier to just create four separate limb pieces and a head piece and glue it to the body. It's just that I enjoy trying to find ways to create models out of one piece. Even though it might make the models a bit 'hardcore' sometimes. Gotta find a balance in there somewhere.

@Methuup: These ones are one-offs, since they're done with markers on the models themselves. But I like your idea of doing a father-daughter model that is downloadable as well. In that case I should involve her in the concept stage as well, that might generate some fun results.
