hey everyone, i'm new to the world of papertoys, so ill give you a little info on how i caught the paper toy fever. I always liked to draw, and i have tried my hand at painting, but since everything i ever learned was self-taught, progress was pretty slow.. i have tried acrylic, oil, and transfers, my work was decent, but it never shined the way i wanted it to..
anyways flash forward to about 2 months ago.. i was in an art gallery, with my cousin, (great artist BTW) checking it out, cause he was about to have a solo showing there. So we were checking the place out, and as we were leaving i saw a book by the register, the book was URBAN PAPER. i flipped through it and decided that i have wasted more than 20 bucks on less before, so i decided to buy.
i went home and flipped thru the book, and i saw a key word i have never seen before "Paper Toy" so i decided that i would google this phrase. lo and behold my eyes were finally opened!
i spent a few days building others creations, but i got quickly bored, I wanted my own creations. and i wanted them now!!!
I started small and simple learning how the shapes played, and now i can't get enough.. after my work week i usually spend 15 hours straight (no sleep after work mind you) designing and building something new. I quit drinking which is a big deal, cause i work at a bar where we are allowed to drink at work. since then my productivity has gone thru the roof!!!
Paper toys made my life better!
