Nice Paper Toys

The paper toy network

I am in the process of designing some paper train cars. Im looking to basically make fairly realistic looking paper versions of model trains that can be customized by artists and i plan to make them available on my website and in my magazine. I plan on holding a few shows in the future featuring the customized trains. If anyone has any advice or ANYTHING you think may help me out with this please let me know. I already have made a few of the All City Style subway cars for my own enjoyment and was thinking something simple enough like they are. Also if anyone knows of any paper trains available anywhere id love to check them out!

i have a paper subway train on my blog,
you may have to trawl through the archives to find it though.

i keep making different versions of them, some to scale some not, never released most of them though.

I realllllly dig your style

what im lookin to make / find is freights cars. I know it shouldnt be too hard for me to design i just have to track down my folder of train outlines that i can use as a starting point...

you gotta do a "solid cold" car,
seems to be a classic graffiti freight.
have you seen the documentary on them?

well worth hunting down,
i'm sure its called "reefer madness"

you can view the trailer here:

It sounds like your focus will be on Tagging with options to make minor customization of the car
itself?

If that's the case, focus on a simple, to the point geometric design. Easy to build, easy add ons
and a nice size canvas for Tags. Maybe some texture variety and skip the geometry customs.
Window car, pealing paint, new paint, Barred or Freight cars.

A quick Google search came up with this page of paper models for ideas:
www.ss42.com/pt-trains.html

A quick google "image search" turned up tons of good pictures of freight cars, textures and
high quality train photos.

Good luck. And I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
