Nice Paper Toys

What was the first papertoy that you put together? The one that started it all.

For me, it was a preprinted model of Fox's Arwing in an old issue of Nintendo power. I think I held it together with tape than glue but it came out very nice. This was more than a few years ago. I had no idea what was papercraft at the time so I didn't get into again until little over a year ago. But I still remember that Arwing model I made.

My first papertoy was a Minecraft Creeper. I had no idea what papertoys were, it just looked cool, so I gave it a go. I got really into it after seeing Castleforte's Papertoy monster book in an art store. So cool.

My first paper toy was a Dr Who Tardis of my own design made out of thin red card and sellotape. It must have been about 4cm tall. I was only 8 at the time. Many years later after a lifetime of origami, point of sale design and fascination with paper in general, I discovered Toy-A-Day and I was hooked.

I stumbled on Behemoth's Castle Crashers (the Red Knight, I think) as one of the pages in a design magazine. I had no idea what Castle Crashers, or this incredibly cool thing called papercraft was, but I was hooked.

I think my first papertoy was a rudimentary NASCAR of Rusty Wallace's 1997 car I made myself. No folds or seperations, just scrunch and tape! Over time, I got better.

My first paper toy was the Wicked wench ship off the disney experience site. Was looking round the web, back in 2006, to see what interest I could learn, came across a picture of the ship and the rest is history.

Started firstly with boats, trains, cars etc then became interested in the urban paper craft scene.

My first papertoy was Rommy by Tetsuya Watabe from the book Urban Paper. I stumbled upon the book in a "Urban Outfitters" and immediately fell in love with the craft. Blew through the book and from there found NPT and all the wonderful artist's involved. I've made many friends since then. Some cyber and some more personal. I have found a love for all paper, including cardboard. Built many a papertoy and have been contemplating designing my own forever now. Just haven't had the time or harnessed the ideas floating around yet. Some day. You all are great.
